Animal Species Heterotrophic Eukaryotes Report
Description
For your Report:
You will go outside and find 5 different animals that live there. These can be either invertebrates, vertebrates or both. For each of these animals you must include:
- What is its body size? Is it determinant or indeterminant? What is known about the regulation of its body size (for example, is it the brain, the heart, digestive system, or other, that’s most important?)
- How does the animal regulate its body to live in this environment? How does it keep cool/warm?
- How does it maintain homeostasis?
- How and where does it get its energy from? What does it eat?
- How does it protect/defend itself from attackers?
- How does it prevent desiccation?
- Describe the phyla of the animal and how it relates to body plan/structure. Include the type of symmetry it has and any special features (such as for appendages).
- How does it interact with the environment? What senses are most important for this animal (is it mechanical, thermal, chemical, light, sound, electromagnetic)?
- How does this animal move? Does it have an endo-, exo-, or hydro-skeleton?
- How does the animal exchange oxygen and nutrients with its environment? Does it have an open or closed circulatory system? Describe how it works.
- If any, what are the current threats to this species?
- An original photo with of your Bronco Student ID (or other form of ID) with each animal in the original photo
After you complete your analysis of 5 different animals, reflect on which features you consider to be adaptive advantages and disadvantages.Predict an internal or external factor that limits or restricts the range of activity for the animals.
Use complete sentences in your own words.
- If you use external references, include a list of references in APA format at the end of your assignment.
- Upload your work on e-Learning with the corresponding DropBox file. (Do not submit a “.pages” file)
